893 Intestinal Stoma - A challenge for the Patient

Abstract Introduction Formation of intestinal stoma is a widely performed surgical procedure worldwide. It associated with variable complications which can impact physical and mental health the patient. The purpose this study to aspects (indications, complications, change in quality-of-life etc) make necessary recommendations for quality improvement patient experience better. Method included 150 patients formation. Data categorised according indications, based on their response life. Results A total were study. There 89 male (59.3%), female (40.6%). 63 (42%) had loop ileostomy;38 (25.3%) transverse colostomy. 77 (51.3%) bowel malignancy, diverticular perforation 19.3%. 21 (14%) mentioned into self-esteem following surgery, 14% reported decline sexual Conclusions Pre & postoperative assessments should be carried out detail help them understand implications having “stoma”. Stoma nurse involvement helps accept changes life after surgery. Psychological &sexual consultation improving patient’s challenge it may impose.
